Well, if I had mixed feelings about the original Hocus Pocus, clearly this bodes well for the sequel. 29 years after the first movie. Yeah, Disney clearly didn’t have any ideas, they just wanted to cash in.

Much like the original Hocus Pocus, I have yet to watch this movie. Unlike the original Hocus Pocus, my expectations for this one are significantly lower. Can ya blame me though? First of all, way to strike while the iron’s hot, Disney. Second, this movie came out when Disney’s live-action remakes had long been established in the public consciousness. The same live-action remakes that are notoriously bad and clearly cash-grabs.
However, Hocus Pocus 2 has something that the live-action remakes don’t: a continuation of the story. Given how the first film ended, there’s clearly nowhere for this sequel to go, but that never stops Disney. I guarantee they intend to make up some bull crap about how the Sanderson Sisters are gonna get re-summoned. The only question that remains is, what’re their plans for the rest of the cast? Are they bringing back the OG’s or getting new actors?
I have no idea, but either way I’m not looking forward to it. Just for the sake of fairness, let’s leave the door open for greatness. It’s the movie’s choice if it wants to invite greatness in or not. Your move, movie.
With that said, let’s visit modern Salem, Massachusetts again to see what shenanigans come up in Hocus Pocus 2.
